Yes, masks are mandatory at all times for students and staff. We are following all CDC and State of Michigan protocols and guidelines.
We are taking touch free temperature readings and screening all staff, students and volunteers before they enter our building or vans. All DBG staff members have participated in mandatory COVID-19 training.
Our fundraising remains focused on our academic and athletic programming, our COVID-19 emergency response, and providing emergency food, paper goods, cleaning supplies, academic materials including laptops and other support our students and families need as the pandemic continues.
We will follow all of the federal, state and local health and safety guidelines, inform anyone who was in close contact with the person affected and report all positive COVID-19 cases as required. In addition, we are prepared to halt our in-person programming as needed for the health and safety of all involved.
With many parents returning to work outside of their homes, it’s critical that our students have a safe place to go to continue to learn and grow.
Right now, the best way to help DBG is by providing financial support. We are using the funds to provide emergency meals and care packages, academic packets, and items like computers for virtual tutoring and mentorship and workout equipment for online workouts. DBG staff members are making phone calls and putting together delivery routes. Food is being delivered by our drivers, in our vans with the assistance of coaches. There is no need for families to sign up at this time. We will be keeping in touch.
We need a minimum of 150, one for each of our students who range in age from 8-18 or 3rd-12th grade. Our hope is that each student will be able to take advantage of the virtual tutoring, mentorship and workouts we’re providing to stay healthy, stay on top of their schoolwork, and stay connected to our DBG family until schools reopen.
The DBG team is following Centers for Disease Control and Prevention guidelines and best practices from hand washing and social distancing to limiting meetings to 10 people or less. We have also done an even deeper cleaning and sanitizing of our building and will continue to take proactive steps to keep everyone safe.
